TRUST & SECURITY

Trust starts
with being precise.

Veil is designed for physical screen privacy and workload continuity. Here is what that means—and where its protection ends.

What nearby people see

Supported physical displays become black. Veil does not merely dim the desktop.

What your applications see

The desktop remains rendered and the session stays active. Screen capture and remote software can still see it. Brief branded transitions and battery-flash overlays are exceptions.

When authentication happens

When required by your settings, an unveil attempt requests the native macOS lock while the displays stay black. Veil restores the displays after lock confirmation.

What a timer does

An authentication grace period changes whether a later return requires authentication. Expiration alone does not lock or unveil.

What happens with unsupported displays

Veil refuses the whole setup if a connected display cannot be blacked safely and restored. AirPlay, DisplayLink, and virtual displays are unsupported.

Where the boundary is

Veil is not a substitute for the macOS Lock Screen, physical device security, or an enterprise lock policy. It does not promise compliance certification.

How recovery is treated

Veil is designed to bring the displays back after a crash. Power loss, a replaced display, or a blocked macOS display call can still prevent recovery. Unveil and recovery are never gated by license status.

What can pause your work

Explicit system sleep, closing the lid, and critical-battery sleep can interrupt running workloads. Veil does not override those safety events.

DATA & ACCOUNTABILITY

A focused utility.
A clear data story.

Automatic diagnostics exclude screen contents and display identity. Licensing uses device information for activation; organization administrators can see their managed seats. Read the privacy policy for the full handling of licensing, diagnostics, and website data.
