GET VEIL

A quieter screen
for the computer you use.

Veil ships on Mac; Windows is in development. Check the requirements and display compatibility for your computer below.

Veil for Mac

  • macOS 14 or newer
  • Apple Silicon

Display compatibility

  • Built-in MacBook displaysSupported
  • Apple Studio DisplaySupported
  • Apple Pro Display XDRSupported
  • Other physical external displaysCapability checkedThe display must be able to go safely dark and come back.
  • DisplayLink, virtual, and AirPlay displaysNot supportedThese displays cannot be blacked safely.

Support depends on the connected displays, not on brand or cable. No extra setup on the display is needed. If any connected display cannot be blacked safely and restored, Veil refuses the entire session before changing any display.

Quick compatibility check

  1. Download and install Veil. The 14-day trial starts on first launch.
  2. Connect every display you plan to use.
  3. Start Veil once and confirm each panel goes physically dark.
  4. Use Control–Escape — the same shortcut that veils and unveils — and confirm each display looks the way it did before.

Veil is designed for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or newer, with a full-function 14-day personal trial.

What to expect

The Windows build is in development. Requirements and display support details will be published with the release; until then, the Mac card is the only place where Veil’s display support is documented.
